renewed hope in a jar dry refreshing & refining moisturizer for dry skin
Rated 5 out of 5 by Esse from Good stuff if you're able to let go of the past. I used the old formulation of HIAJ dry and loved it, and although I get that people miss it, I like this formula even better. After two months of use, I swear that I look at least five years younger--seriously, I'm getting compliments on my skin, and that hasn't happened in a looong time. I wish that people who simply want to complain about the change in formulation would quit dragging the overall rating down, because this is a great moisturizer. I am in my late 40s and have combination dry, acne-prone skin, and this stuff addresses both of my concerns like nobody's business--my dry patches are gone, and my T-zone is perfectly matte. Not a pimple in sight.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Macy from Disappointed...where to turn next? I've used Hope in a Jar Dry Skin for several years and was "okay" with it. It's where I landed after a long search of a replacement after Lancôme discontinued Hydra Zen for dry skin. Now, Philosophy has changed the formulation and while the fragrance is better the moisturizer is just weird. I cannot wear it under other things...i.e. sunscreen #which is recommends you wear because it contains AHA#, CC cream. When I apply anything over it, it just peels off. My face seems marginally dryer than before even though my routines have remained the same. I, unfortunately, do not recommend this product...and now again, am stuck trying to find something that will work for my skin.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Marybeth from Was hopeful, but nope... I have been using Hope in a Jar for Dry Skin for well over a decade (the Regular HIAJ is drying for my skin, unfortunately) and I tried this "replacement" a number of times under varying conditions (immediately after washing my face, following Miracle Worker, etc) and it invariably dries my skin, makes it feel very tight and uncomfortable, and, ultimately, pills up. I am so disappointed and frustrated because Hope in a Jar for Dry Skin in the ONLY moisturizer that has ever worked for me (I have tried so many it's ridiculous) and I am, honestly, stressing about what I am going to do when I run out. PLEASE, I beg of you, bring back the original Hope in a Jar for Dry Skin.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Nano from Works for me! This is the perfect summer moisturizer for me. First, I did not care for the scent of the original HIAJ. I was so happy when Renewed HIAJ came out because the scent didn't bother me. I used RHIAJ last summer, and Miracle Worker in winter. I find Miracle Worker too oily for the summer heat and humidity. Now as I age, I find my skin needs more moisture than RHIAJ, so I tried RHIAJ for Dry Skin. Bingo! Just the right level of moisture without being too oily. I have sensitive skin, and I have not had any problems with RHIAJ for Dry Skin. I'm sorry if others do, but please don't discontinue it. I love it!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by sensitivecomboskin from My go-to moisturizer! I am constantly experimenting with moisturizers from the competitors because I like to always try new products but I keep going back to Renewed Hope for Dry skin. I give away the competitors' products to my friends who don't have ultra sensitive, combination skin like me. This moisturizer has a perfect consistency - not too thick and not too runny. It goes on well and doesn't flake like so many other competitors' products, yes, other companies' products actually flake off my skin after drying!!??!! It doesn't sting at all and it doesn't make my face oily. Yes, other companies' products actually sting my skin, but not Renewed Hope for Dry skin. I'll be extremely sad if they ever discontinue this product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Angelica from It's okay, but not good for dry or sensitive skin After philosophy discontinued my go-to moisturizer HIAJ for dry skin, I was hopeful this would be as good or better to replace it. Unfortunately, this is not nearly as good as the original. It burns when I put it on, and my skin has dry patches that I never had with the original. This is probably fine for people with normal or oily skin but it is not sufficient for those with dry skin. I will be looking for a new moisturizer after this. I may even try a different brand I am sad to say, because I have always been a fan of philosophy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Sharmee from If it works DON'T fix it! If it were possible to not give a star I would have...one is one too many! I went to purchase my ever faithful Hope in a Jar for Dry Skin and discovered it has been discontinued and the illusion of an improved version has replaced it. This 'renewed' version is horrible! My skin is drier and feels awful, the scent is really bad. After YEARS of using the Hope in a Jar for Dry Skin I now have to find a new moisturizer. PLEASE bring back the original formula of Hope in a Jar for Dry Skin!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Jackie314 from Bring back the old Hope in a Jar for DRY SKIN! UGH!! I tried this new dry formula since Hope in a Jar for dry skin was discontinued and I am terribly disappointed. This formula is very harsh on my skin, it actually burns and does not moisturize nearly as well. I cannot use it. I used the original dry formula for years and was so thrilled when I found it. Now I am on a search for a new formula, this is definitely not it. Bring it back Philosophy, I beg you!
